Superglue, Never Again…

There is the good news, and the bad news. What do you want to hear first? I usually go with bad news first so let me begin.

Well, I think I am mildly retarded. I have had two major, stupid incidents in less than 24 hours. Here they are:

First —

The Tivo decal came off Tivo, and before I sell it to Ahe, I thought, let me glue this baby back on. I noticed a thing of superglue in W & C’s car so had Wilfred bring it in. I set about to glue the Tivo decal back on…well, I was having a hell of a time getting anything to come out and under normal circumstances I would have given up, but this 3M Superglue had a protective plastic packaging around it so I thought squeeze away. I ended up puncturing the tube w/my thumbnail squirting the superglue just below my eye on my cheekbone, in my hair at the temple, on my pants, and all over my right hand. It was everywhere, and thankfully my hair was pulled up so the damage was minimized. Carrie attempted to help me get the superglue out of my hair by using nail polish remover. It worked for parts, but I ended up having to cut and pull some of it out. Good times. I have a small bald spot at my temple. Not that noticable to the naked eye. Ha.

Secondly —

I was driving downtown today and was about to Pacific Place when I stumbled upon a street space between 6th & 7th on Olive. I pay and park. I paid until 3:36 p.m. I think what luck! I’m having a fabulous day. Around 2:45, I think, is that street a towaway street. Hmm, yes, but I think it’s from 4-6. Well, at 3:30, I think, I need to move my car and then have this sinking sensation that it might be from 3-6. WRONG, i’ts from 3-7. My car was gone, towed to Lincoln Towing at Fairview and Mercer. How much did this stupid action on my part cost me — $178.12. $140.12 for the towing and $38 for my parking violation. Good times, think of all the clothes I could have bought.

I am officially mildly retarded.

Now for the GOOD NEWS!! I went to the Orthopedic – Sports Medicine doctor, Dr. Huff. I saw both Dr. Huff and Jamie the physical therapist. They work together. Jamie asked me what I wanted to get out of this visit, and I said, I want to be rid of these awful crutches. Dr. Huff arrives and I tell them about my stress fracture, and my normal running routine. Dr. Huff tells me that he would never have put me on crutches siting that the use of crutches leads to bone loss as well as muscle loss, and he only gives crutches to patients who are in tremendous pain when they walk, which is not me. Also, he says he does not give people the boot unless it benefits them because it eases pain from walking. He said that if I can walk a mile and it doesn’t hurt that I should, and that I should still try and wear supportive shoes, but it’s up to me. Um, YES, what he was saying is that for the last week, I didn’t need to be on crutches at all or wear the stupid boot. I can bike, swim, and do yoga. I am so excited. I was ecstatic, maybe I was partially high when I parked hence the big mistake. I don’t know, I returned the crutches and took off the boot and walked out of the doctor’s office positively elated.

Ok, I am super tired and need to finish my movie. Just wanted to update everyone on my tale of woe and tale of triumph. Too bad I ended my day with the towing. Wah.

Moving, Moving, Moving

Someone just told me you find out who are your true friends when you move. Haha, so I guess my true friends are Carrie & Wilfred, Heather & Owen and Kruti & Paj and Kim. Good stuff, I pretty much packed all weekend. It sucked, and I was bad and took off my boot and moved boxes, etc. What could I do, I was by myself! Haha, it was fine though. On Sunday, the troops moved it all and were fabulous and I hearts them a lot. Thank you again for helping!!

I now am residing on the ‘darkside’ aka the Eastside. I am always awed by how every available store is within 1 minutes drive from eachother…a huge new Whole Foods, Target, Pasta & Co, Larry’s, Fred Meyer, InSpa, Cost Plus, Redmond Town Center…it’s kind of amazing. Whole Foods is super awesome and ginourmous and features a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, grill, plus all their other normal takeout food areas. I was truly in awe, and could live there. Haha.

Bullshit!

You know what is bullshit? Being on crutches. This bites. I am in a foul mood.

Just emailed my doctor for a sports medicine referral because I do not know if I am going to make it three weeks on crutches or six weeks sans no physical activity. Maybe I’ll learn to swim.

Everyone and everything — BITCHES!

Just Call Me, Gimpy

Well, if I was less tired, I would post a picture of my lovely “cam walker”/”the boot.” I found out yesterday that…indeed…I do have a stress fracture. It showed up on the bone scan of my tibia, good times, good times. I am now on crunches for three weeks with no weight on the bum leg. After three weeks, I can attempt to slowly put weight on it with or without crutches. The boot will be my bff until right up until I leave. Almost six weeks. The crutches are actually painful. They are my enemy. Boo.

Well, Well, Well

Things are moving along, and I am currently packing up my apartment. Sadly, I am moving next weekend. So if you are free on Sunday, 17th, and want to lend yourself to some moving fun, come on down! You know where to find me. I will be plying everyone with baked goods as extra motivation.

I can hardly believe I only have 4 more weeks of work. How does it happen so fast? I can hardly wait to be done with my lovely company, after 3 years, I am burnt out.

What else has been going on? Well, I ran a half-marathon on Labor Day…yes, 13.1 miles. Let me tell you that miles 10-13 were a real bitch. AND the .1 was even more horrible. I did it my goal time so I am happy 1:57. Yay, 9 minute miles. The only repercussions to this athletic triumph is that my right shin has been quite sore. Also, my toenail might come off. I visited my doctor to get checked out, and it is not actually my shin that is sore, but my tibia so I had an x-ray to see if I had a stress fracture. The x-ray came out clean, but she wants to do a bone scan to rule out a stress fracture all together. I am not allowed to run until it checks out. I am going into withdrawals…it’s been 3 full days of no running. Sigh, hopefully, it checks out and I can start running by Wednesday. The bone scan is on Monday…I have to go in at 750am and get an injection, and then come back at 1130 for the scan. Good times, good times.

What else? Mm, Tuan being the coolest friend ever gave me my going away present early…a LV change purse for my Euros. How cute is he! Haha, also, he’s letting me stay at his apartment whilst he’s on vacation! Yay, get excited for the freeloading…just call me Kato.
